The Greek letter π, often spelled out pi in text, was adopted for the number from the Greek word for perimeter "περίμετρος", first by William Jones in 1707, and popularized by Leonhard Euler in 1737.[6]

Pi was made by a wheel and four lines. The lines were about 2 inches apart. The cirle had a point that met with zero. The circle would roll and it landed on a point that was 3.14. That was how pi was made.
